We believe that St Matthew’s Church of England Primary School, we give our children the means by which to grow and flourish, living life in all its fullness, John 10:10
Central to this are our core values. It is important for us to develop the children’s understanding of our values by demonstrating them ourselves and showing how we can live and develop moral and spiritual awareness.
We explore the meanings of these values and their significance through daily acts of Worship. The gifts of Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, Respect, Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service and Truthfulness are the key values we want our children to understand and develop before they leave primary school. Whilst these gifts are inclusive of human values, we anchor them into the Christian faith by relating them to the Bible through stories and readings which are embedded through the term and year.
We have 7 core values. We have 6 values that have a termly focus and an overarching value of Love which encompasses all of our values.

Our values are an integrated part of our behaviour policy. The values rainbow and related behaviour are displayed in all of our classrooms.
Along with the value we have a vision for each term which we discuss with the children.
