Dear parents / carers,
Welcome back to school and to Year 6. I hope you have had a lovely summer and your children are feeling well-rested and ready for a new year. It has been lovely to welcome them back and to see some of you on the gate. If you haven’t already, please do come and say hello.
The Year 6 team includes:
Miss Szarko
Mrs Brown
Mrs Southcott
My PPA time will be on Thursday afternoons and this will be covered by Mrs Brown.
We are thrilled to be working with your children this year and are busy getting to know their areas of confidence and strengths, as well as finding out all about their hobbies and interests. Throughout the year, we are able to offer a wide range of opportunities, activities and responsibilities including house captains, worship teams, Reception buddies and more. We will share more information about these areas of responsibilities, as well as general Year 6 information (residential, SATs, production, etc.) as they arise.
In order to develop a very clear and positive approach to behaviour in school, we continue to follow our behaviour policy, linking in whole school values and these are referred to constantly in the classroom, playground and beyond. As always, we would appreciate your support with this.
Homework will continue this year and as before, your child will be set new homework every week. The details of this are found on the next page. The first homework will be sent home on Wednesday 11th September and will be due back the following Monday.
Our first PE topic, swimming, will take place on Wednesday afternoons. The children will need to wear normal uniform but are allowed to wear trainers to make the walk more comfortable. Please make sure that all children are able to tie hair up and take jewellery off independently; if not, this needs to be done before school.
If you wish to contact us, you will find one of us at the school gate every morning and afternoon or you can always communicate with us via Dojo between 8am – 4pm. If you need an opportunity to talk about something in person, you are welcome to use Dojo or book in a phone call/ meeting.
Best wishes,
Miss Szarko and the Year 6 team
