At St Matthew’s Church of England Primary School, we believe in giving children the means by which to grow and flourish. Central to this are our core values. It is important for us to develop the children’s understanding of our core values by demonstrating them ourselves and showing our children how we can live and develop moral and spiritual awareness.
We explore the meanings of the core values and their significance through daily acts of worship. The gifts of Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, Respect, Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service and Truthfulness are the key values we want our children to understand and develop before they leave primary school. Whilst these gifts are inclusive of human values, we anchor them into the Christian faith by relating them to the Bible through stories and readings. The values we will be focusing on this year are:

Each of our values has a related behaviour which is displayed in all of our classrooms on our values rainbow.

Each of values in embedded in scripture and these stories are embedded throughout the term. Along with the value we have a vision for each term which we discuss with the children.
